CUSPE

Center for Uninterrupted Solar Power & Energy (CUSPE)

Energy self sufficiency is a goal of every nation, and such sufficiency secured utilizing clean and renewable energy sources also assures sustainability to a nation. Sustainability and energy consumption is one of the top grand engineering challenges we face as a society.
The Government of India is laying the foundation for a sustainable green economy to balance development while protecting the environment as it works towards its landmark pledge to achieve “Net Zero Emissions” by 2070.Harnessing the abundant solar, wind and other renewable sources in economic ways will allow India to achieve such a net zero goal in 2070. Challenges remain in overcoming the intermittency of renewable energy and making the converted commodity (e.g., electricity and/or hydrogen) affordable to industry.

The center will choose to examine the various methods of producing both electricity and hydrogen from renewable sources and the associated challenges in using them in the key sectors of the economy in India. The center will provide a focused forum for researchers and engineers from academia, government and industry to discuss, debate and identify promising clean energy technologies with particular emphasis on commercially viable solutions for the Indian ecosystem.
This center should consider/explore the following

1. Primary Renewable sources – Solar, Wind & Bio-mass

2. Secondary Energy Types – Electricity & Hydrogen

3. Storage – All Types (Batteries, Hydrogen, Pumped Fluids, CO2, Compressed Air, Flywheel) for      short, mid and long-term storage

4. Distribution network

5. Business models for deployment

Vision

Identify ways and means for transitioning totally from conventional energy sources to renewable energy sources

Mission

1. New knowledge development through Seminars, Workshops and Conferences in Renewable Energy systems.
2. The solutions for cost-effective production, storage and distribution models of renewable energy will be arrived by encouraging research and supporting research projects of faculty and students in this area for cost-effective production, storage and distribution models.
